Special Dairy Goat Rules

•             The original registration certificate is required for all animals six months of age or older and must be shown to the Show Secretary before the start of the show.  The original registration certificate, duplicate application or fax copy stamped by the ADGA office is required for all animals under six months of age, and this must be shown to the Show Secretary before the start of the show.  Exhibitors are reminded that all tattoos must be readable.

•             The base date is the date of show, August 5, 2008.  Location of the show is the Howard County Fairgrounds, West Friendship, MD.

•             Entry fee is $3.00 per head (no bedding).  Exhibitors will need to provide their own portable pens to house animals during the show.  Entries must be received or postmarked on or before July 1, 2008, and mailed to the Fair Secretary.  All entry fees MUST BE INCLUDED with entry forms.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Substitutions may be made within breed.  Exhibitors may arrive after 5 p.m. on Monday evening.  Animals must be in place by 7:30 a.m. and checked in by 8:00 a.m.  Exhibitors may leave at the conclusion of the show or by 2 p.m. at the latest, AND MUST REMOVE ALL BEDDING BEFORE LEAVING THE SHOW.

•             This show is sanctioned by the American Dairy Goat Association, and their rules shall govern.  Only ADGA, AGS, and CGS registered, recorded or applied for animals may be shown.  This Combined Junior/Senior Doe Show is sanctioned by ADGA for the following breeds: Alpine, LaMancha, Nubian, All Other Purebred (AOP), Saanen, Toggenburg, and Recorded Grade.  The Junior and Senior Shows are not separately sanctioned.

•             Maryland or Interstate Health Papers will be required of all animals.  .  Original certificate should be in exhibitor’s possession on the fairgrounds.

•             All goats must be provided with a collar.  There will be no pre-show milk out.  The judge will discriminate against over-extended udders.  Exhibitors are requested to show in ADGA show or 4-H/FFA attire.

•             A Rosette and Special Award will be presented to all Breed Champions.
 

Breed Classes for Each Breed Will be Shown in the Following Order:

(A) Alpine  (B) LaMancha  (C) Nubian  (D) All other Purebred (AOP)  (E) Saanen
(F) Toggenburg  (G) Recorded Grade

Class:

1.          Junior Kid (Born on/after April 1 of the current year)

2.          Senior Kid (Born on/after December 1, 2007 and before April 1, 2008)

3.          Dry Yearling (Born before Dec. 1, 2007, under 2 yrs., never freshened)

4.          Junior Best 3 Females-All animals must have been shown in Classes 1-3. All bred and owned
         by one exhibitor

5.          Junior Champion (By Breed) – RIBBON ONLY

6.          Reserve Junior Champion (By Breed) – RIBBON ONLY

7.          Milkers Under 2 Years

8.          Milkers 2 Years and Under 3 Years

9.          Milkers 3 Years and Under 5 Years

10.      Milkers 5 Years and Older

11.      Dry Doe (must have freshened at least once)

12.      Senior Champion (By Breed) – RIBBON ONLY

13.      Reserve Senior Champion (By Breed) – RIBBON ONLY

14.      Grand Champion (By Breed) – ROSETTE ONLY

15.      Reserve Grand Champion (By Breed) – ROSETTE ONLY

16.      Champion Challenge (for Champ. and Grand Champ. Does of record) (By Breed)

17.      Dam and Daughter (2 animals, any age)*

18.      Get of Sire (3 does any age, same sire)*

19.      Dairy Herd (3 does in milk, owned by same farm)

20.      Best Doe in Show – BANNER

 Special Notes:

*Best Doe in Show to be chosen from among the does chosen as Best of Breed Champion (winner of Class 16) of each breed.  All Best of Breeds must compete for Best Doe in Show or will forfeit championship leg earned at this show.

For Classes 17 and 18, combined ownership is permitted.  Exhibitors must specify which exhibitor will receive premium at check-in.

For Class 19 combined ownership with animals from the same farm permitted.
