Entry fee
per bird $1.00.
For birds of Maryland only.
Entries close July 1st,
positively no late entries accepted. Superintendent
reserves the right to limit entries.
Birds will be housed in the Poultry/Rabbit Building
and will be accepted from 12 Noon until 8:00 p.m. on
Saturday, August 2nd.
A Maryland
Department of Agriculture Domestic Poultry & Exotic Bird
Poultry Premise Registration Number will be required for
all Maryland Poultry Producers to exhibit at 2008 fairs.

State Exhibitors:
Pullorum-typhiod: All exhibitors must show proof that poultry
originated from a Pullorum-typhiod free flock or have
individual poultry entries tested negative for
Pollorum-thypoid not more that 90 days before the
exhibition. Proof is to be documented on Interstate Health
Certificate, VS Form 9-2, VS Form 9-3 or comparable form.
Avian-Influenza:
All poultry must originate from a flock that is currently a
participant of the U.S. NPIP Avian Influenza-Clean Flock
Program, or the exhibitor must have a minimum of 30 birds
(or the complete flock if fewer than 30), randomly tested
negative for avian influenza by an official test (AI-AGID,
AI-PRT PCR, or VI) by a state pr federally recognized
laboratory. The samples should only be collected by a state
or federal animal health agency staff, an accredited
veterinarian or a state-certified poultry technician within
a 10 day period prior to movement to Maryland exhibition.
Negative avian influenza test results will be good for 30
days after issuance. Proof is to be documented on an
Interstate Health Certificate or comparable state form. All
poultry entries must be individually tagged.
BRING YOUR PULLORUM-TYPHOID AND A.I. TESTING
CERTIFICATES WITH YOU WHEN YOU COOP IN. BIRDS WILL
NOT BE ACCEPTED OTHERWISE. Turkeys have to be tube
tested. Pigeons do not need to be tested. Pheasants
and Waterfowl must be tested. ALL COCKS AND HENS MUST
BE PULLORUM BANDED. Testing of poultry at the
time of arrival at exhibitions will no longer be
offered or recognized by this Department
NOTICE: All
species of Fowl entered in the Show will be subject to daily
inspection by a representative of the MD Department of
Agriculture. Any bird showing symptoms of any disease will be
disqualified and must be

immediately from the building for the duration of the Show, and
isolated, as
directed by the MD Department of Agriculture representative.
Such bird may not be returned to the building for the duration
of the Show. Entry fees paid on any bird that is disqualified
will not be returned.
No entry will be accepted unless presented in writing and
signed by the exhibitor. Entry forms may be requested
from the Poultry Co-Supt., Dick Holmes (410-313-5741), Fair
Secretary Bettina Catalano (301-829-0852), or the MD Cooperative
Extension--Howard County Office (410-313-2707). Entry fee
must be included with entry forms.
Be sure to state whether your entry is for Large Fowl,
Bantams, Ducks, Geese, Pigeons, Turkeys, or Pheasants. Only
recognized breeds and varieties will be accepted. Give name and
variety as shown in the Standard of Perfection.
No exhibit can be removed from the building before
10:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9th.
This rule will be strictly enforced. All birds must be removed
by Midnight on Saturday, August 9th.
Birds left after this hour will be at the owner's risk.
Each exhibitor will be limited to a maximum of 30 birds.
All birds shown must be the property of the exhibitor at
least three (3) months prior to the Show.
Specimens will be fed, watered, and cared for by the
Poultry Department Staff.
The greatest care will be taken of all specimens, but the
Show will not be responsible for any accident, mistake, loss or
damage, from whatever arises, to the specimens being exhibited
and is at the sole risk of the exhibitors. Judging will be by
comparison and governed by the American Standard of Perfection
and the American Bantam Association Standard. All specimens
shall be exhibited in their natural condition except for Old
English game cocks and cockerels.
No exhibitor may take more than two premiums in any one
class.
No cards or inscriptions will be allowed on coops until
after judging.
COCK--Male
hatched prior to 2008; HEN--Female hatched prior to 2008;
COCKEREL--Male hatched during 2008; and PULLETFemale
hatched during 2008.
No birds can compete in both the open and 4-H classes.
